Where it all began
Wildflowers was Bell Art’s first collection, born from Meryl’s larger floral paintings and her love of bringing many native flowers together in one generous composition. Inspired by the grand still lifes she admired, she filled her own with the unmistakable forms and colours of Australian flora, letting flowers spill, overlap and compete for attention, famously accompanied by her insect and faunal companions.
Whilst her painting Crimson Gold became a hero of the collection, its lasting appeal lies in the whole floral world Meryl created in these superb works: abundant, expressive and full of details that reward a closer look.
