A true blue Australian
The genus Lechenaultia includes around twenty species, most of them found only in Western Australia. Blue Lechenaultia, Lechenaultia biloba, is the best known, prized for its intense shades of blue and distinctive flowers, whose lobes spread almost like a tiny open fan.
That remarkable colour gave Meryl something very different to capture within the Australian floral palette, and her interpretation brings out both the delicacy of the flower and the almost luminous quality of its impossibly blue hue.
