Wattle

Australia is home to more than a thousand species of wattle, growing across every state and territory and adapted to some of our harshest conditions. Golden Wattle is our national floral emblem, while wattle in its many forms was one of Meryl Bell’s favourite subjects to paint. She returned often to its fine foliage and brilliant bursts of colour, capturing the warmth, movement and delicate detail of a flower that has come to symbolise both the Australian landscape and its quiet resilience.
